SANTANDER ISO DATAGRO New York Sugar & Ethanol Conference 2018


Aiming to discuss the main issues of the global Sugar and Ethanol industries and to bring together representatives of the international community of producers, traders, brokers, investors, and from the financial market in general, the Santander Bank, International Sugar Organization (ISO) and DATAGRO will hold, on May 09th, 2018 the 12th edition of the SANTANDER ISO DATAGRO New York Sugar & Ethanol Conference. Recognized as the official technical event of the New York Sugar Dinner, since its first edition, the Conference has become an established tradition in the global sugar and ethanol calendar.


Last year more than 450 leaders from 22 countries gathered, for an intense day of lectures and debates with the most renowned specialists in the sugar and ethanol markets in the world. With simultaneous interpretation in English, Portuguese and Spanish, the Conference takes place at the elegant Hilton Midtown in New York.

Bob Dinneen President, Renewable Fuels association, Washington,DC, USA.

Bob Dinneen is the President and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA), the leading trade association for America’s ethanol industry. Collectively representing the majority of U.S. ethanol industry leaders and supporters, RFA’s mission is to increase the production and use of renewable fuels and to create a dynamic, robust ethanol industry. As the ethanol industry’s lead lobbyist before the Congress and Administration, Bob has been instrumental in advancing policies that protect the environment, strengthen the U.S. economy, and promote energy independence. Since 2008, Bob has repeatedly been recognized as a “top lobbyist” by Capitol Hill’s must-read newspaper, The Hill. A noted expert on energy and environmental policy and issues affecting the U.S. ethanol industry, Bob regularly testifies before federal agencies and congressional committees. His views and expertise have been solicited by top policymakers in the Bush (41), Clinton, Bush (43), and Obama Administrations, including Secretaries of Energy, Agriculture, Treasury, and Commerce, and the Director of the Environmental Protection Agency. Deputado Arnaldo Jardim Deputado, Câmara dos Deputados, Brasilia,Former Secretary of Agriculture for the State of São Paulo, Brazil

Arnaldo Jardim was born in Altinópolis, city in the Brazilian State of São Paulo. He is a civil engineer at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (USP) and began his political life as a student leader, when he was director of the Central Directory of Students (DCE) of USP and the State Union of Students, at the time of the struggles for democracy. He served four terms as a state deputy and was bench leader of PMDB’s (Party of the Brazilian Democratic Movement) at the São Paulo Legislative Assembly. Elected for the first time in 1985, he was the draftsman of the State Constitution and the amendment that ended parliamentary immunity for common crimes. Jardim was State Secretary of Housing between 2002 and 2004. He was the author of the State Policy to Support Cooperativism, the State Solid Waste Policy, the Adolescents Health Program, the Cooperative Support Law, and coordinated the parliamentary fronts of housing, cooperativism and clean energy. He was the first vice-leader of the PPS’s (Popular Socialist Party) bench in the Federal Chamber. Head of the Mines and Energy Commission and President of the Parliamentary Front in Defense of National Infrastructure and the Parliamentary Front for the Valorization of the Sugar and Energy Sector (Ethanol Front); Member of the Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development and Coordinator of the Working Group on Solid Waste of the National Congress Parliamentary Front. He was Rapporteur of the National Policy on Solid Waste (PNRS). He is draftsman of the Environmental Services Payment Act (PSA). In the last five years, he has recognized in the publications "100 Heads of the National Congress", elaborated by the Inter-Union Department of Parliamentary Advice (Diap), and by votes made by the Brazilian web portal Congress in Focus, as one of the best parliamentarians of the Federal Chamber. Currently, Arnaldo Jardim federal deputy (licensee) in third term (2007/2018) and presided over CONSEAGRI - National Council of Secretaries of Agriculture (2015/2016).

Enrico Biancheri Head of International Sugar Trading Louis Dreyfus Company-LDC, Geneva, Switzerland.

Started his career in sugar trading in 2003 at LDC as a trader of sugar and ethanol based in Brazil, in 2009 with the spinoff of Biosev, the second largest sugarcane company in Brazil. From LDC he moved to be the commercial manager of Biosev, looking after the hedging, marketing and logistics of sugar and ethanol. In 2011, he was appointed Chief Commercial Officer, overlooking the cane origination as well as the marketing and risk management for sugar, ethanol and electricity produced by Biosev. In 2013 he was appointed a board member of Unica, position held until 2016. In 2016 Enrico moved back to LDC as the head of sugar trading. He holds an undergraduate degree in Economics and a Master of science in Finance.

Friedrich-W. Becker is Head of the Global Markets department inside the Business Unit Sugar/Sales at Südzucker AG. He has served in different functional and regional positions throughout his career inside the Südzucker Group over the past 20 years. He holds a master’s degree in business from the University of Göttingen, Germany. Südzucker, with its sugar, special products, CropEnergies and fruit segments, is one of the leading companies in the food industry. In the traditional sugar business, the group is the world market leader, with 29 sugar factories and two refineries, extending from France in the west via Belgium, Germany and Austria, through to Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Bosnia and Moldova in the east. Ivan graduated in Business Administration in Rio de Janeiro. During his career, he worked on foreign trade. As a Managing Director of Al Khaleej Sugar (AKS), Jamal Al Ghurair leads the largest and most energy efficient standalone sugar refinery in the world. Also, Al Khaleej Sugar contributes currently 3% of the world refined Sugar’ production. Mário Leão is the Executive Vice President responsible for Santander Brazil’s Corporate Banking segment, responsible for medium and large local and multinational companies. Before that, Mr. Leão served for almost 2 years as the Executive Director responsible for the Corporate and Investment Banking group, within Global Corporate Banking. Mike Dwyer Chief Economist, US Grains Council, Washington, DC, USA.

Michael Dwyer serves as the chief economist for the U.S. Grains Council, a non-profit organization that promotes the use of U.S. barley, corn, sorghum and related products including ethanol and distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS). As chief economist, Dwyer provides trade, marketing, and policy analysis of developments in global supply and demand and helps the USGC staff and its members stay abreast of developments in the global market. Dwyer also directs the Council’s worldwide ethanol market development activities. He travels extensively in Asia, Latin America, and Europe and speaks frequently at professional conferences and to the news media in the U.S. and around the world. In addition, he serves on the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee advising the Secretary of Commerce on matter pertaining to biofuels. Prior to the Council, Dwyer worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) for 35 years, most recently as its chief economist and as a director of global policy analysis. In these positions, he was responsible for conducting and coordinating trade and policy analyses on a wide variety of strategic issues that affected U.S. and world agricultural trade, including those that affected the emerging global biofuels market. Dwyer holds a bachelor’s degree from Mary Washington College in international affairs and a master’s degree from The Ohio State University in agricultural economics with a specialization in international trade, marketing and econometrics. Mr. Rangsit Hiangrat is the Director – General, Thai Sugar Millers Corporation. Sergey Gudoshnikov Senior Economist, International Sugar Organization- ISO,London, United Kingdom

Born in Russia, graduated in Moscow in international trade economics. 30 years of his professional carrier have been dedicated to the world sugar market. From 1978 to 1988 he worked as a sugar trader, deputy director of Sugar Department of V/O Prodintorg, Moscow, at that time the sole importer of sugar in the Soviet Union. He joined the Secretariat of the International Sugar Organization in London in 1988. He is responsible for economic and policy analysis of the world sugar market. He has published numerous articles on different aspects of the world sugar economy as well as has addressed many international conferences around the globe on different issues related to the world sugar market. He co-authored the book “The World Sugar Market” published by Woodhead Publishing Ltd. in the UK and the USA in 2004.

If a company has registered more than one delegate, we offer 5% extra discount for the second registration and the following until May 01, 2018. After this date, all registrations will be charged the full amount (1,485.00 USD).

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation and refund requests received until April 06, 2018 will be accepted with retention of an administration fee of 70% of the amount paid. After this date, retention will rise to 90% to cover committed costs. No refunds will be made for cancellation requests received after April 26, 2018. Substitution of delegates is welcome and can be made until the May 01, 2018.
